Tape-In Extensions — Exploring the Pros and Cons

Fast to install, flat against the head, comfortable to wear. Here's the honest breakdown of who tape-ins work for — and who they don't.

Tape-in extensions are our fastest install and one of the most beginner-friendly methods. But like every method, they have trade-offs.

The pros

Fast install (1.5–2 hours), no heat, no beads, no glue that hardens. Lightweight, comfortable, and virtually invisible under normal styling.

The cons

Moveups every 6–8 weeks. Tape adhesive is sensitive to heavy oils and silicones — sulfate-free and silicone-free products are required. Not ideal for extremely fine hair (the tape can show through).

Who tape-in works best for

First-time extension clients, clients with medium hair density, and anyone who wants a quick install with easy takedown.

Who should consider another method

Athletes, extreme heat-styling clients, and anyone with very fine hair. K-Tips or hand-tied wefts may serve you better — we'll walk through your options at your $50 consultation.
