The Truth About Grey Transitioning — Embracing Your Natural Silver
Ready to stop coloring? Here's the professional transition process that skips the 12–18 month awkward grow-out phase.
Transitioning to natural grey is one of the most rewarding — and most misunderstood — color services we offer. Done professionally, it's a 3–6 month glide, not an 18-month growout.
Step 1 — Lowlights
Deep lowlights are placed through your existing colored length to bring depth back around the incoming silver.
Step 2 — Highlights
Cool, ashy highlights are painted through the same length to mimic incoming silver — so your grey emerges into a hair color that already looks silver.
Step 3 — Gloss
A cool violet gloss neutralizes yellow in the highlights and blends everything together.
Ongoing
As your true silver grows in, we gradually reduce highlights. Most clients are fully transitioned within 6–9 months.
