Protecting blonde hair through Louisiana summer
Chlorine, sun, humidity, and salt water. A colorist's playbook for keeping your blonde bright and healthy through August.
Louisiana summers are brutal on blonde hair. Between the sun, the humidity, and every pool between here and the coast — brassiness, dryness, and dullness are the enemies.
Before the pool
Saturate your hair with clean water and a leave-in conditioner before you get in. Fully saturated strands absorb far less chlorine.
After the beach
Rinse immediately with fresh water. Salt water is drying and pulls color faster than most people realize.
Weekly at home
A purple shampoo once per week keeps yellow tones at bay. A bond-repair treatment every 2–3 weeks restores strength.
In the salon
A quarterly gloss appointment refreshes tone and adds back shine without lifting new pigment.
